Three-dimensional seismic characterization and imaging of the Soda Lake geothermal field

Accurate characterization of subsurface geophysical properties and detection the fault system are essential for geothermal energy exploration production. The Soda Lake field is in western Nevada with a complex system. Previous seismic only produced low-resolution, smooth velocity model along simple, conceptual model. Using optimized correlation-based full-waveform inversion, wavefield-separation-based reverse-time migration, automatic techniques, we present 3D using surface data acquired Vibroseis sources. We obtain high-resolution velocity, density, acoustic impedance models, images different grid spacings, Consistency check between constructed faults currently active injection production wells verifies that our inversion imaging results detected reliable. These can provide valuable information optimizing well placement at field.
